SPECIALS MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES:

The materials used for this set are silver .960 gilding, Swiss hot enamel, wood oak, ash and Russian jasper stone. Weighing at a whopping 3129 grams.

The silver is used in a traditional gilding technique called gilt silver. It’s immersed in electrolytic liquid which results in gold ions on the surface of the piece. The final step is polishing.

Enamel is a coloured glassy substance that is added to the metal. First the artist prepares the enamel in a mortar and grinds it into small pieces. He then applies it very carefully to the individual pieces as the smallest of detail can drastically change the look and colour of the enamel. The piece is then baked between 700 to 900 degrees Celsius. Depending on how detailed the piece is the enamel can be applied using a brush or even something as small as a needle.
